Travel experts at Travelcircus wanted to know if this dream could become a reality. Lucky for us! It is indeed possible to spend the night at some famous filming locations. Some of these places are in well-known hotels, others can be booked on vacation rental platforms, and a few are even a bit hidden.

We found 17 famous filming locations where you can stay overnight - whether you're a horror movie lover, a romance film fan, or a series binge-watcher, there's the perfect spot for everyone to dream.

What remains a distant dream in many places can fortunately become a reality in others. We have found 17 amazing places from films and series where every fan can spend the night.

Filming Location 1: The Gucci Residence from House of Gucci

Grand, impressive, and simply beautiful - it's hard to describe the villa from House of Gucci better. Filming took place in the enchanting Villa Balbiano on Lake Como, Italy.

The villa looks not only stunning on screen but also in Instagram pictures or in real life. If you want more than just a glimpse from the outside or feel particularly close to stars like Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, or Jared Leto, you can even stay overnight in the dream villa.

The Villa Balbiano can be rented via Airbnb among other platforms. Currently, it's fully booked, but it's worth checking back regularly or sending a direct inquiry through the villa's website.

Filming Location 2: Mr. White's Villa from James Bond 007: Casino Royale

Filming Location 3: Nathan's House from Ex Machina

The lovely house can be rented as a holiday home or for events. The Chalet, as this holiday house is called, is located in Herefordshire, England. There are still some dates available this year. The minimum stay is four nights and costs about €4,145.

Our 5th filming location where film buffs can spend the night is truly no secret: De Vere House in Lavenham, England. The house should be very familiar to many Harry Potter fans as it is indeed the house of Harry's parents, where the famous tragic scene between the Potters and Lord Voldemort takes place.

Many fans come to the house to take a picture in front of it. It is also possible to simply spend a few days inside the house. The gem is bookable via Airbnb starting at €164 per night. Those wanting to stay must book a minimum of two nights. There are two rooms available for booking.

Filming Location 6: Winterfell Castle from Game of Thrones

How about a night at Winterfell Castle? Fans of the famous HBO series Game of Thrones can both visit the castle, which is actually called Castle Ward, and even stay overnight on the premises.

The Bunkhouse can accommodate up to 14 fans, making the pricing truly affordable. The campfire area in front of the house provides a genuine vacation camp feeling.

In Season 5, the setting additionally serves as a hotel where Walter and his family stay for a while. If you want to follow in the Whites' footsteps, it costs around €176 per night at this lovely hotel.

Filming Location 8: Luke Skywalker's Family House from Star Wars Episode 4

The Hotel Sidi Driss in Tunisia transports its guests into an impressive foreign world. The surroundings and the extremely unique design of the hotel were also appealing to the creators of Star Wars, who used the hotel in Episode 4 as a location for Tatooine. The hotel transforms into the home of the Lars family, where Luke Skywalker lived.

The hotel has 20 rooms that can be booked for just €60 per night. Breakfast and dinner are already included in the price - definitely not a bad deal, in our opinion. Star Wars fans can enjoy some themed decorations from the film series, giving them the feeling of actually walking through Luke Skywalker's home.

A very special filming location from the James Bond films worth mentioning is the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, India. This dream hotel served as the backdrop in James Bond 007: Octopussy from 1983. However, it's not a hotel where the agent, played by Roger Moore, stays; it's an entire island: the Island of Octopussy.

The beautiful hotel with its fascinating arches, grand pools, and a charming mix of Indian architecture and exquisite botany offers everything one could wish for from a luxury getaway. At €627 per night, it's not cheap, but in such a place, you probably only vacation once.

A hotel that has taught film fans to be afraid is the Overlook Hotel from the adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining. Fans of the horror classic can stay in two hotels that are connected to the film: Timberline Lodge in Oregon, which served as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel, and The Stanley Hotel in Colorado. The Timberline Lodge starts at €210 per night.

The Stanley Hotel, on the other hand, was the inspiration for the creepy story. King himself stayed there in the infamous Room 217, which, since the film adaptation, has become the most booked room at the hotel. It's said that ghosts are often sighted in the hotel. Those wanting to find out if there's any truth to that can stay at The Stanley Hotel for €300 per night.

Our 5th filming location where film buffs can stay is truly no secret: De Vere House in Lavenham, England. The house should be very familiar to many Harry Potter fans as it is indeed the house of Harry's parents, where the famous tragic scene between the Potters and Lord Voldemort takes place.

So, where are the Twilight fans? Most people know the film or book series about Bella and the vampire Edward. But what not everyone knows is that fans can stay in the house of Bella and her dad.

The house is super popular and often completely booked. If you really want to stay at this stylish Airbnb, you must book a year in advance. Booking is only possible on the 1st of a month. The rate starts at €375 per night with a minimum stay of two nights.

Fans can authentically feel like they're in the movie thanks to the decor. And when choosing a room, the most important question arises: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Filming Location 13: Kellerman's Resort from Dirty Dancing

Because this dreamy hotel was the filming location of one of the most beloved movies of all time. In Dirty Dancing, the hotel is called Kellerman's Resort, where Johnny and Frances fall in love and dance away.

The lowest prices we found for an overnight stay in the hotel in Pembroke start at €120 per night. Fans of the famous dance film can enjoy various film references on-site or just book the Dirty Dancing Weekend Package.

Filming Location 14: Phil's House from Groundhog Day

In charming Woodstock, near Chicago, there's a cozy bed & breakfast that film lovers might remember: the Cherry Tree Inn B&B.

It's the house where Phil wakes up every day in Groundhog Day and must start his day all over again. Looking at this lovingly designed bed & breakfast, we think it wouldn't be so bad to wake up here repeatedly. Individual rooms or even the whole house can be rented. Prices range from €200 to €1464 per night.

Filming Location 15: Buffalo Bill's House from The Silence of the Lambs

If you don't immediately think of the famous cowboy when hearing Buffalo Bill, then this house in Perryopolis is just right for you. Because this is the house of the serial killer Buffalo Bill from the horror film The Silence of the Lambs. Chilling scenes were shot here, and today up to eight fans can stay in the house and feel like they're on the set. Prices start at €557 per night.

Buffalo Bill's House also offers tours without an overnight stay, with owner Chris Rowan guiding guests through the meticulously decorated house. Highlights of the tour include the set of the famous dance scene and the new interactive fountain set, where guests can step into the role of Buffalo Bill's victim - if they dare.

Filming Location 16: The New House of the Byers Family from Stranger Things

For those who can't get enough of Stranger Things, a little trip to New Mexico, specifically Albuquerque, is worth it. In Season 4, Eleven and the Byers family move there, and the house they live in can easily be rented through Airbnb. Up to 14 people can stay in the beautiful house. Overnight stays start at €278 per night (minimum stay: 2 nights) plus taxes and fees.

Highlights of the house include the basement with authentic 80s arcade games and various little nods to the series. Here's to the famous Ouija board, and maybe you might even encounter Vecna in the house. This place is definitely a paradise for all Stranger Things fans.

Filming Location 17: Camp Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees and Camp Crystal Lake are undoubtedly responsible for countless summer camp horror stories and nightmares. The camp from the Friday the 13th films is eerily an actual summer camp. For most of the year, the camp serves as a retreat for scouting groups and isn't open to the public.

However, on certain days, the camp, which is actually called Camp NoBeBoSco, opens its gates for hardcore horror film fans. The organizers then offer various tours and events on-site. One of them is the 'VIP Overnight Experience'. Those wanting to indulge in this exclusive event must be at least 21 years old, pay around €748 to €935, and act quickly since tickets sell out incredibly fast. There are no more tickets available for 2023. But if you're lucky enough to snag a ticket, you can look forward to a meet & greet, a film screening, a dinner with the film stars, plenty of campfire fun, and a night in one of the historic cabins.

For those brave enough, the camp is an absolute highlight and belongs on every horror movie fan's bucket list!
